Cultural Landscapes

The course Cultural Landscapes examines the development of man in space over the past 200 years. Landscapes contain cultural, historical, economic, political, and ideological attributes. The course will expose students to the subject of cultural landscapes from different perspectives such as art and literature, maps, and photos. The course will begin by learning about landscapes in paintings. Later we will examine different definitions of cultural landscapes and learn about the World Heritage Sites of UNESCO. Furthermore, we will focus on three types of cultural landscapes: Historic Designed Landscape – mainly gardens and parks, Historic Vernacular Landscapes and Ethnographic Landscapes. During the course, the students will also learn the five-stage approach to critically reading and analysing a landscape. The course will expose the students to the differences between Israeli landscapes, foreign landscapes, and global ones. Lastly, we will explore how issues such as culture, politics, economics, and globalization are related to the landscape. Part of the lectures will be delivered by foreign lecturers.

קורס בינלאומי זה הינו חלק מפרוייקט Erasmus+ William ומהווה הזדמנות לסטודנטים של תל-חי ללמוד קורס בשפה האנגלית על ידי מרצה מתל-חי ומרצים מאירופה. הקורס מאפשר מפגש בין הסטודנטים מתל-חי לסטודנטים האירופאים דרך פעילויות ומטלות משותפות.

הקורס מורכב מ-12 מפגשים שבועיים בימי חמישי בשעות 10:30-12:00 החל מה- 21.10.2021.

* שני שיעורים יתקיימו במשותף עם הסטודנטים מ Goethe University Frankfurt ויהיו ארוכים יותר ובשעות 11:00-13:00 (בתאריכים ה- 11.11 וה-25.11)

כל השיעורים יהיו מקוונים, חלק מסונכרנים וחלק יתקיימו באופן עצמאי במודל. 

הקורס יעסוק בנושא של "נופים תרבותיים" ויבחן את התפתחות האדם במרחב במהלך 200 השנים האחרונות. נופים מכילים בתוכם סימנים תרבותיים, היסטוריים, כלכליים ואידאולוגיים. הקורס יחשוף את הסטודנטים לנושא של "נופים" מזוויות שונות. נבחן כיצד נופים מתוארים בציור ובספרות, כיצד הם נראים במציאות וכיצד ניתן לנתח אותם בצורה ביקורתית. נדון בהבדלים בין נופים בישראל ונופים ממקומות שונים בעולם. נתבונן במפות ונבחן כיצד הנופים מתוארים בהן. נלמד כיצד נושאים כגון תרבות, פוליטיקה, כלכלה וגלובליזציה קשורים לנוף.

דרישות קדם לקורס:

כתיבה, קריאה ודיבור באנגלית ברמה טובה והסכמה להשתתפות פעילה בשיעורים.
