One of the most dynamic and expanding fields in Israel and the world, biotechnology is vital to many spheres of our daily lives. Experts in this field are active in developing cures for and preventing diseases, improving agricultural practices to produce better crops, and searching for solutions to environmental pollution to make cleaner energy from new sources. Tel-Hai College was the first college in Israel to offer a B.Sc. degree in Biotechnology and in October 2014 Tel-Hai launched their Pre-Med Program.
The Academic Curriculum
The first-year curriculum focuses on basic courses in fields such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. In subsequent years students continue to courses in biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, immunology, environmental biotechnology, and then choose more advanced and specialized courses, including virology, fermentation technology, bioinformatics, biotechnology in the biomedical sciences, antibodies in biotechnology, biological pest control and more.
Partnerships with Research Institutes
Biotechnology students acquire invaluable hands-on laboratory and research experience at the MIGAL Galilee Research Institute, an applied research institute that works in partnership with Tel-Hai College.
Professional internships are offered to select students who work in biotechnological companies in return for scholarships, through the Tel-Hai Tech Program.
