Computer Science, B.Sc. & M.Sc.
Computer Science combines the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation with the practical techniques employed to implement and apply the results of these studies into computing systems. The department educates high quality computer scientists, while contributing to the development of a strong and diverse high-tech industry in the Upper Galilee. The Department also prepares students for graduate studies, and graduates have successfully continued on to leading M.Sc. and Ph.D. computer science programs throughout Israel.
The Academic Curriculum
The program covers a wide range of topics, from foundation studies in mathematics, algorithms, and computing systems, to learning programming languages and software development methodologies. Tel-Hai's Computer Science program is oriented towards software development. In addition to the standard computer science curriculum, which includes a strong mathematical and theoretical foundation, all aspects of software development are emphasized, such as computer languages (C/C++, java, C#), networks, operating systems, real-time systems, internet programming, computer and network security, and software engineering. A unique track in signal processing enables students to specialize in one of three major fields of interest today in the high-tech industry and research: audio and music signal processing; video and image processing and compression; and computer vision and machine learning.
Tel-Hai Tech offers professional internships to students who work in software and IT companies in return for scholarships, which are funded jointly by the employers themselves and by Tel-Hai College, through its philanthropic partners. The program provides its graduates a distinct advantage, by virtue of the hands-on industry experience they gain. The employers report high levels of satisfaction with the quality of the student employees and many offer them full time positions upon graduation. The success of the program has attracted new companies to the region.
